Bernie Price, a long time woodcarving student entered several of his wood carvings in the 8th Annual Woodwackers Show. Woodwackers is the local Monson carving club. The event was held in Memorial Town Hall, Main Street on May 5, 2013.
Bernie Price placed as follows: 1st place in stylized bird; Penguin, 1st place for stylized animal; hatching sea turtle, 2nd place; a large red Santa ornament, and 3rd place; a spiral Santa ornament.
Dick Martin, a new student as of this year, 2012/13, entered his dolphin and placed "First in Category", and his dolphin took "Best in Class, Novice."
Each of the items carved and entered into the competition were carved in class at HCAC.
NOVICE (N):
A beginning carver who may be a newcomer to competition. Carvings can be from a carving class, books, kits and carving blank. If the carver wins a blue ribbon in this class, it is necessary to advance to the intermediate level.
INTERMEDIATE (I):
A more experienced carver who may have won several awards for their carvings. The carver is able to create carvings with less help. It is acceptable to submit pieces that used kits, purchased blanks, or were teacher instructed.

Inclement Weather Policy
Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will be announced on TV Channels 40 and 3, HCAC Website and Facebook. Channel 22 has advised that due to policy changes they will not be able to announce our class cancellations.
When Holyoke Public Schools are cancelled due to inclement weather, all morning and afternoon classes are cancelled. There will be no credits or refunds issued. However, a make-up class may be scheduled by the instructor, either extending the class hours or adding an additional class, time permitting. Make-up classes must be made in same session.
